Allow Your Soul to Catch a Breath

Hey there! So, here I am on January 22nd, and I find myself completely out of breath—not because I’ve been running a marathon or anything, but because life has become this whirlwind of life, children, work, entrepreneurship, and all those school sports runs! It’s a season of my life that I truly cherish, yet it feels like I’m sprinting through every day.

Just yesterday, I reached out to a friend and asked if she ever feels this way. It got me thinking about a legend I once read about Native Americans who would pause on their journeys. When questioned about it, they’d say they needed to let their souls catch up with their bodies. This morning, I decided to do just that! I needed to slow down and allow my soul to catch up with me.

In our busy lives, how do we strike a balance? Everything seems urgent, and it’s easy to lose sight of ourselves in the chaos. But I’m grateful that I can take a moment, a little pause, to breathe. My solution? A stroll in nature! I immersed myself in the vibrant greens and browns around me, delighting in the sights of rain-kissed flowers and the gentle sunlight filtering through the leaves.

I let my ears soak in the sweet songs of the birds, while my feet crunched on the fresh, damp ground. There’s something magical about feeling that cool breeze, even if it’s fleeting. It was all about being present, feeling my body moving, and simply breathing. I find that if we experience the present moment through most of our senses… it replenishes energy threefold.

Now, I know not everyone has the luxury of taking such breaks. Trust me, I don’t get to do this every day! With a never-ending to-do list, it often feels impossible to step away. But I also realize that without allowing myself this time to recharge, I won’t be able to tackle even a few tasks effectively.

So here’s to those moments of pause! When I return to my list, I’ll do so with renewed energy and a clearer mind. Let’s give ourselves permission to catch our breath, shall we?
